Grand Canyon

3 Views over the Grand Canyon from the Plane
8am Monday 10th September 2012, we boarded a coach to travel to Williams on the infamous Route 66. From Williams we went to the Grand Canyon itself on the Grand canyon railway.
As soon as we arrived at the grand Canyon 11 of our party joined another coach for a journey to the airport. Once there we were checked in and weighed prior to boarding a small 19 seat air plane.
GRAND CANYON
Omg, you have to go see the grand canyon. It is so amazing. We went with 17 other people in a small plane. I was scared stiff! I was holding onto the back of the chair in front with one hand and taking pictures with the other hand. The plane was so light it was shifting in the wind. It was flying low and the canyon looked so close. We were on the seat with the wings so felt every waver. After a while I relaxed a little and concentrated on photographs. These photos cannot possibly do it justice, the enormity of it. No wonder it is one of the seven wonders.  If only I could send the photos to you. Awesome. The guide/attendent on the train up there was so right about the Canyon, it was Grand!  When we rejoined the rest of the party at the edge of the Canyon the view was nice but not as spectacular as from the plane. Then the rain came poring down, which did spoil the view.
The whole day was incredible. Even the train getting there was an experience. Our party had a coach to ourselves  and an attendant telling us the history of the Grand Canyon  and warning us we would be robbed (by actor gunslingers). All great fun and a little bit scary.  At the end of the trip she said "It is not the number of breathes you take in life that count,  but the number of sights you see that take your breath away.  We saw a gunfight, saw a sheriff shoot the baddies, we were involved in a train robbery and took loads of photos of it all.        Wonderful day literally.
